However, there were a couple of issues I just could not get around. First. the URL's for each individual post was changed during the transfer. Not a big deal. Except...all of the projects that I've shared on Pinterest now lead to a broken URL. Not cool. I actually get a lot of visitors to Berry Freckles from Pinterest so I couldn't have incorrect URLs for all my pins.
The second big deal-breaker for me was comments. Tumblr doesn't host comments and discussions but you can import a Disqus widget. I didn't have any trouble importing Disqus but I could not for the life of me get it to sync up to Blogger and show all my pre-existing comments. I just couldn't see losing all of the comments and starting over from scratch.
Ok. Back to the drawing board. I cut all links between blogger and tumblr and decided to just give my blogger page a facelift. I loved my cute little Berry Freckles header and pink herringbone background that I made mysefl. Loved it at the time but I wanted a lighter, fresh design.
One of the biggest drawbacks with blogger is the limited templates that are offered. There really are only a few "official" templates to choose from. However, lots of web designers offer free XML templates that you can download. I just had to find a design I liked and figure out how to use it. And the thing I love most about the information age is that 99% of the time you can just google your question and find instructions for what you want to do.
So after some tinkering around and minor HTML tweaks, here is my new blog design! Some of the cool new features are: page links at the top where I hope to post a "home tour" page soon, popular posts highlighted along the left, and of course, a clean and simple look, and of course, links to Facebook and Pinterest.
What do you think of it?
