Painting Mojo {Thanks Nemo!}

Hi everyone. Well, I spent most of my long weekend, stuck indoors while the blizzard blew through. Check out the view from our front door. See the top of our mailbox? That gives an indication of how high those drifts got. I think our final snow measurement was 27 inches. Not too shabby!

In a rare stroke of preparedness, I hit up the hardware store the day before the storm hit and bought gallons and gallons of paint. From primer to white trim to ceiling paint to bathroom wall color. I was PREPARED. It was time to get my painting mojo back.

I started out in Freckle Diva's room. As I posted last week, her new doors needed to be painted, along with the trim around them. Here's the "before":

I learned the hard way that painting the trim around a door while the door is still hanging, is unnecessarily difficult. I'll definitely pop the doors off next time. But, I do like painting doors while they're hanging. So much quicker than painting multiple coats on one side, waiting for cure time, and then repeating on the other side. By the end of the weekend, the Diva's doors and trim were looking like this...

What a difference huh?  And since I already had out my primer and white paint, I decided to tackle this wooden armoire in the playroom. So far I've primed and done two white coats but it still needs at least one more, plus a few coats of polycrilic to finish it off. The rest will have to wait until next weekend.

And right before the snow hit, the bathroom walls were plastered. What a huge improvement!  I gave them a few days to set up and then primed those suckers.

Check it out...the tub is in too! Can you tell I'm excited?

 Next up is a couple of coats of ceiling paint and at least one coat of wall color. It's sooo much easier to paint in there without having to try to get behind the toilet. Stay tuned for more updates!
